In the period of the Iraq – Iran war taking photographs in the public was risky and banned in some areas.  In the that period Rifat Chadirji who was at that time Counsellor to the Mayoralty of Baghdad hired a propeller aircraft and started documenting Baghdad in an unprecedented collection of photographs.
